YOUNG ARTISTS ENSEMBLE’s In The Heights

Raises Funds for Puerto Rico Relief

 

THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. – As part of its production of Lin-Manual Miranda's Tony Awarding wining show “In the Heights”, Young Artists Ensemble has set up a donor match program where the ticket purchase, plus a $5.00 donation for Puerto Rico Relief though the non-profit Hispanic Federation will be matched by $5.00 from Young Artists Ensemble. This will make each  $5.00 donation turn into $10.

         Donations can be made by choosing CODE PR5to10 when purchasing tickets and choosing the prices with the % symbol to add the donation.  In addition to this campaign, Young Artists Ensemble is encouraging its patrons to help with the humanitarian crises by considering donation directly to the Hispanic Federation Puerto Rico Relief Unidos by visiting their website where they can also purchase tee shirts and other items personally designed by Lin-Manual Miranda. 100% of all donations including the YAE $5 Donates $10 Campaign go to Puerto Rico Relief.

          IN THE HEIGHTS celebrates three days in the characters' lives in the New York City Latino neighborhood of Washington Heights.  It’s Young Artists Ensemble’s Teen Summer Musical with performances July 27 through August 5, 2018, Wednesday, Thursday, Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 pm and Sundays at 2:00 at Newbury Park High School Performing Arts Center, 456 N. Reino Road in Newbury Park, CA 91320. 

            IN THE HEIGHTS tells the universal story of a vibrant community in New York’s Washington Heights neighborhood – a place where the coffee from the corner bodega is light and sweet, the windows are always open and the breeze carries the rhythm of three generations of music. It’s a community on the brink of change, full of hopes, dreams and pressures, where the biggest struggles can be deciding which traditions you take with you, and which ones you leave behind. IN THE HEIGHTS is the winner of the 2008 Tony Awards for Best Musical, Best Score, Best Choreography and Best Orchestrations. IN THE HEIGHTS is presented through special arrangement with R & H Theatricals: www.rnh.com         

            Director & Choreographer Mayme Paul has been fortunate to have a long career performing, teaching, directing and choreographing with over one hundred credits on her resume. She has performed on Broadway, on National Tours, and in Regional Theatre Productions, and has directed shows all over the United States.  Previously at YAE, she worked on productions of Sweeney Todd, West Side Story, Cabaret and Chicago (for which she won Outstanding Director by The National Youth Arts Organization).  In addition to musicals, she has choreographed commercials and the hit TV show Northern Exposure.  She owned and operated a children’s theater company, Gypsy Productions.

            Premium tickets for IN THE HEIGHTS are $23 Premium seats are $21 for adults and $17 for children, students and seniors. Young Artists Ensemble has received many accolades in the past 36 years including the Encore Statue Award from the City of Thousand Oaks for Excellence in the Arts, and Best Innovative Program 2011, Large District from the California Association of Recreation and Park Districts.
