A MUSICAL ADVENTURE JR.

 

THOUSAND OAKS, CA – Young Artists Ensemble presents DREAMWORKS’ MADAGASCAR: A MUSICAL ADVENTURE JR. directed by Directed by Suzanne Tobin with Musical Direction by Susan Treworgy-Calkins and Choreography by Cheryl Ross. Performances are Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays February 2 – 25, 2018 with the addition of performers with special needs February 23-25, 2018.  All performances are at the Hillcrest Center for the Arts, 403 West Hillcrest Drive.

           Dreamworks' Madagascar: A Musical Adventure Jr.  reminds audiences that you have no choice but to “MOVE IT, MOVE IT” as Alex the Lion, Marty the Zebra, Melman the Giraffe, Gloria the Hippo, and some crafty penguins escape from their home in New York’s Central Park Zoo. Based on the smash DreamWorks animated motion picture, this musical is a Zooful of fun, with the Book by Kevin Del Aguila and Original Music and Lyrics by George Noriega & Joel Someillan.                

            Dreamworks' Madagascar: A Musical Adventure Jr is also a part of the award-winning Conejo Theatre For Everyone, teaming up YAE kids and performers with special needs for a unique theatrical experience.  These performances with the addition of performers with special needs will take place on the fourth weekend, February 23-25, 2018.

            DREAMWORKS’ MADAGASCAR: A MUSICAL ADVENTURE JR. is the second production in Young Artists Ensemble’s 37th Annual Family Theatre Season.  The “Season of Family” will conclude with CHARLOTTE’S WEB May 4-20, 2018. Young Artists Ensemble received 38 nominations and thirteen wins for their 2016-17 Productions.  Winners in the 12th Annual National Youth Arts Awards included Outstanding Production: Carrie: The Musical, Outstanding Lead Actress in a Musical: Lyda Jade Harlan as Fiona in Shrek the Musical, Julia Lester as Carrie White in Carrie: The Musical, Outstanding Lead Actress (Junior Division): Jaden Levinson as Anne Shirley in Anne of Green Gables, Outstanding Supporting Actress (College Division): Katherine Steele as Margaret White in Carrie: The Musical, Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Musical: Kate Fruehling as Sue Snell in Carrie: The Musical,Arielle Jacobellis as Ursula in The Little Mermaid, Outstanding Featured Actress (Junior Division): Marissa Margolis as Young Fiona in Shrek the Musical, Outstanding Lighting Design: Ken Milbrett for Carrie: The Musical, Outstanding Set Design: Mark Andrew Reyes for Carrie: The Musical, Outstanding Choreography: Anthea Stobie for Carrie: The Musical, Outstanding Musical Direction: Zachary Spencer for Carrie: The Musical, Outstanding Direction: Mark Andrew Reyes for Carrie: The Musical

CHARLOTTE’S WEB

PERFORMANCES

 

WHAT: Charlotte’s Web is the beloved story of a little girl who is given a piglet, which she names Wilbur, to raise as a pet. As Wilbur grows though, he becomes too costly for the farmers’ daughter to keep and is sold to her uncle. Wilbur has trouble making friends with the other animals on this new farm, until he meets Charlotte, a smart and caring spider, who becomes his savior and his most loyal friend.
