DISNEY’S SLEEPING BEAUTY
SETS A SPELL AT MIAMI SCIENCE MUSEUM

“All Hail to Princess Aurora” on May 29-30, as The Theatre Institute of South Florida presents Disney’s Sleeping Beauty at the Miami Science Museum, Directed by AJ Prats. Music and Lyrics by Pyotr llyich Tchaikovsky, George Burns and Tom Adair, Winston Hibler and Ted Sears, Sammy Fain and jack Lawrence. Music Adapted and Arranged and Additional Music by Bryan Lousiselle. Book Adapted and Additional Lyrics by Marcy Heisler.

It is Princess Aurora's (played by Alba Abrams, age 12) sixteenth birthday, and Flora (played by Carela Menendez, age 11), Fauna (played Micaela Valderrama, age 12) and Merryweather (played by Susana Vasquez, age 12) must use their fairy magic to save her from the spell of evil sorceress Maleficent (played by Shelby Phillips, age 13)! This classic fairytale told Disney-style has many songs from the beloved film, including "Once Upon ad Dream," accompany fun new songs like "Maleficent!" and "A Little Magic Now" to bring a fresh telling of the story to a new generation of kids and families.

The show starts at 7pm (both nights) at the Miami Science Museum located at 3280 S Miami Avenue. Tickets are $12 in advance or $15 at the door. An additional admission purchase of $10 for May 30th is available for the post show reception that includes food, drinks, and an end of term awards ceremony. Disney’s Sleeping Beauty is played by students from The Theatre Institute’s Theatre lab program at Doral Park Community Center. Theatre Lab is a company training program that teaches students ages 9-18 the process of theatre production by working on a full length show. Students are formed into Cast and Crew Members and receive extensive training through classes and rehearsals while gaining practical experience on the stage. Involvement includes lessons in Acting, Singing, and Dancing.

The program is a part of The Theatre Institute of South Florida, Inc. (The Theatre Institute/TTI), a not-for-profit theatre arts academy serving as a repertory theatre of children and adult actors committed to working together to present entertaining theatrical productions to all audiences. The ultimate mission of TTI is to use theatre programs and theatrical repertoire to educate, entertain, and enrich the lives of the participant, as well as the spectator.
