Poway High School presents the musical “Anything Goes”

The award-winning Poway High School Musical Theatre department is busy preparing for their production of Anything Goes, a hilarious comedy with singing, dancing, mistaken identity, and romance!  Poway High School’s musical comedy, Anything Goes, is set in the 1930s aboard the ocean liner S.S. American, where nightclub singer/evangelist Reno Sweeney is en route from New York to England. Her pal Billy Crocker has stowed away on the ship to be near the woman he loves, Hope Harcourt, who, unfortunately is engaged to the wealthy Lord Evelyn Oakleigh.  Two other stowaways, Moonface Martin and his partner-in-crime Erma, befriend Billy and aid him on his quest to win Hope’s heart.

Opening Friday February 5, this marks the first collaboration of the Theatre and Choir Departments in 15 years!  This wonderful partnership is setting the course for all future musical theatre productions, with, of course, the support of our extremely talented orchestra/band.

The cast includes Reno Sweeney, played by senior Sarah Bedford; Hope Harcourt, played by junior Natalie Marriott; Billy Crocker, played by junior Kyle Kesler; ; Lord Evelyn Oakleigh, played by junior Trevor Haumschilt; Erma, played by sophomore Jadyn Ponder; Moonface Martin, played by junior Leif Proctor: Mrs. Harcourt played by junior Marisa Cooper; Elisha Whitney, played by junior Jake Hardison.

All performances start at 7:00 pm, playing February 5, 6 and 11, 12, 13 at the Poway Center for the Performing Arts, 15498 Espola Road, Poway, CA 92064.  Adult tickets are $14, with students and seniors at $12.  The students and creative staff are very eager to share their latest musical offering with the community.

Directing the production is Poway High’s new Drama Teacher Sharon Wezelman with our new Choir Teacher Jessica Schemmel.
