Musical Theatre of Anthem’s 2010-11 Season!

MTA_Season10-11.jpgAnthem, Arizona, March 1st, 2010 – Musical Theatre of Anthem’s (MTA) 2010 -11 Season is filled with full-scale musicals with a variety of styles.  The season line-up includes “Jungle Book KIDS” and “Once on this Island Jr.” rehearsing at the same time (late summer/early fall).  “We hope to make this addition of two shows rehearsing simultaneously a staple for future seasons to come.  I love that this will give even more featured opportunities to all performers, part of MTA’s Mission,” says Jackie Hammond, MTA’s Producing Artistic Director.   Also included in MTA’s Season is the international hit, “Peter Pan” done as a combined age production for ages 7-adult.  Hammond says that she is thrilled that Anthem will have the excitement of seeing people “fly.” She is planning on hiring a rig crew (the same crew that flies performers in Broadway Productions and National Tours), so that Peter Pan can be as authentic and exciting to watch as possible. After selling out MTA’s run of The Wizard of Oz, she wanted to bring another huge show for the Anthem Community to enjoy.  Closing out the season will be, “Honk Jr.,” the story of The Ugly Duckling.  This entertaining show has so much to offer including great musical numbers, and a terrific plot; not to mention, countless roles for performers of all ages.  MTA will also be including a show with professional performing adults (ages 15-adult).  Hammond states, “I’m looking forward to an even bigger third year!  I have seen the performers grow tremendously, improving in all aspects of theatrical performance. I’m excited to work with the very talented returning cast members, as well as welcoming new performers to the MTA family.”

MTA has two age ranges for productions: the no-cut Jr. MTA Productions welcome performers ages 7-14, and the MTA Productions are for those ages 15-adult.  “Auditions will be held for each age group though, because this is an essential skill which takes practice,” said Hammond.  “We want to guide young performers along the audition process and build their confidence.”  For more information about MTA’s upcoming events including auditions, workshops, and performances, please visit www.musicaltheatreofanthem.org
