moment his tall, red-and-white-striped hat appears around the door, Sally and
her brother know that The Cat In The Hat is the funniest, most mischievous cat
they have ever met. With the trickiest of tricks and craziest of ideas, he is
certainly fun to play with. And he turns a rainy afternoon into an amazing
adventure. But what will mum find when she gets home...?
Not a word
has been touched or added to Dr. Seuss's classic, ensuring anyone who's read the
story will find themselves transported into the world they've always imagined.
The Cat in the Hat is a children's book written and illustrated by
Theodor Geisel under the pen name Dr. Seuss and first published in 1957.
Geisel gave varying accounts of how he created The
Cat in the Hat, but in the version he told most often he was so frustrated
with the word list from which he could choose words to write his story that he
decided to scan the list and create a story based on the first two words he
found that rhymed. The words he found were cat and hat. The book met with
immediate critical acclaim and financial success.
Joseph Moretti directs for the Morgan-Wixson Theatre’s
acclaimed Y.E.S. program (Youth Education/Entertainment Series.)
Moretti has served as producer for many recent productions at MWT,
including last season’s Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing, and this season’s Junie
B. Jones and annual youth musical White
In 2011, the theatre had record-breaking ticket sales with
another Seuss production, Seussical.
