Santa Monica, CA –

For 19 years, the Morgan-Wixson has been celebrating the holiday season with an annual youth musical, a full-length musical performed virtually entirely by a cast of talented veterans and newcomers to the Y.E.S. program, aged 8 – 18.  This year, we celebrate with the holiday favorite Irving Berlin’s White Christmas.

Based on the beloved, timeless film, this heartwarming musical adaptation features seventeen Irving Berlin songs and a book by David Ives and Paul Blake. Veterans Bob Wallace and Phil Davis have a successful song-and-dance act after World War II. With romance in mind, the two follow a duo of beautiful singing sisters en route to their Christmas show at a Vermont lodge, which just happens to be owned by Bob and Phil's former army commander. The dazzling score features well known standards including Blue Skies, I Love A Piano, How Deep Is the Ocean and the perennial favorite, White Christmas. White Christmas is an uplifting musical worthy of year-round productions.

Anne Gesling, who continually manages to bring the patrons out in droves to see her productions, directs again for the Morgan-Wixson Theatre.  Gesling has directed all 19 annual youth musicals, including last year’s impressive production of Disney’s Beauty and the Beast.  In 2011, the theatre had record-breaking ticket sales with the Gesling-directed youth musical Seussical and the Los Angeles Premiere of Pinkalicious, The Musical, and Anne continued her successes with last season’s box office pleasers Willy Wonka and Schoolhouse Rock Live!   She collaborates once again with choreographer Lauren Blair after most recently collaborating on the MWT’s mainstage production of The Producers this past summer.
