KIDS ON STAGE TO PERFORM THOROUGHLY MODERN MILLIE JR.  

St. Joseph, MI (January 26, 2010) – Kids On Stage will present Thoroughly Modern Millie Jr. March 5, 6 & 7 at Lakeshore High School Auditorium.  Performance times are 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday with a 3:00 p.m. matinee on Sunday.  Tickets are $10 for adults and $6 for seniors and children younger than 12.  Discount ticket prices are available for groups of 20 or more.  All seating is reserved.  Tickets may be purchased at www.dougskidsonstage.com or by calling 269 313-2796.  

Thoroughly Modern Millie Jr. is a high-spirited musical romp that has all of New York dancing the Charleston. It's the zany 1920's musical that took Broadway by storm!  Taking place in New York City in 1922, Thoroughly Modern Millie tells the story of young Millie Dillmount, who has just moved to the city in search of a new life for herself. It's a New York full of intrigue and jazz - a time when women were entering the workforce and the rules of love and social behavior were changing forever.  Based on the popular movie, the stage version of Thoroughly Modern Millie Jr. features hits including "Not for the Life of Me," "Forget About the Boy" and "Gimme, Gimme".  The original Broadway production won six Tony Awards in 2002 including Best Musical.   

The Kids On Stage cast includes over 60 kids from around Southwest Michigan including Allie Hoyt (Niles High School) as Millie Dillmount, Mitch Conrad (Michigan Lutheran High School) as Jimmy, Becky Driscoll (Lakeshore High School) as Mrs. Meers, Alyson Snyder (Lakeshore High School) as Miss Dorothy, Catherine Smith (Lake Michigan Catholic High School) as Miss Flannery, Gavin Clarke (Lake Michigan Catholic Elementary) and Scott Burnett (St. Joseph High School) as Ching Ho & Bun Foo and Patrick Hill (Lakeshore Middle School) as Trevor Graydon the Third.  

Thoroughly Modern Millie Jr. is specially adapted to be performed by school age children by Music Theatre International as a part of their Broadway Junior series.  It is the tenth production of Kids On Stage, an award winning children’s theatre company dedicated to the development of life skills in children through the performing arts.  Kids On Stage is an opportunity for school-age children to grow in self-confidence and communication skills by preparing and performing high quality musical productions.  

Thoroughly Modern Millie Jr. is directed by Doug Fordyce, owner and director of Kids On Stage.  Choreographer for the show is Megan Goodenough, who appeared in Doug Fordyce’s first children’s production in 1996 at the age of 10 years old.  She was Miss Southwest Michigan 2009 and is a recent graduate of Central Michigan University.
