KIDS ON STAGE ACCEPTING REGISTRATIONS FOR SUMMER THEATRE BOOT CAMP

April 29, 2009 (St. Joseph, MI) – Kids On Stage is now accepting registrations for their 2009 Summer Theatre Boot Camp.  Summer Theatre Boot Camp is designed to give kids individual attention so they can expand their acting, perfect their singing, refine their dancing and develop their overall performance skills.  Camps (with the exception of the Niles camp) will take place at The Chapel, 4250 Washington Ave., St. Joseph.  To obtain a registration form visit www.dougskidsonstage.com or call 269 313-2795.  A pre-registration Early Bird Discount is available for registrations received on or before June 1, 2009.  Camps are divided into five separate camp experiences.  All grades are for students entering school in fall 2009.

MADD Camp, June 15-19 for 1st-4th graders.  MADD stands for Music, Art, Dance and Drama.  Students rotate between creative music, art dance and drama, each day.  Campers will prepare and perform musical numbers and dance routines; make their own props, costumes and set pieces. They will work together to create their own "Fractured Fairly Tale" based on classics such as Beauty and the Beast, The Three Little Pigs, Berenstain Bears, Dr. Seuss and others.

Future Stars Camp, June 22-26 for 4th-9th graders.  Campers will learn what it takes to be a rock/pop "American-Idol-style" performer. They will develop and sharpen skills as an individual and ensemble musical performer. The goal of Future Stars Camp is to take each participant to the next level in their ability to perform before others. Students will be critiqued, instructed and encouraged based upon their own skill level. Each student will perform as both a soloist and part of a small ensemble.

Super Trouper Music Theatre Camp, July 20-24 for 5th-12th graders.  Campers will learn and perform the musical Bugsy Malone Jr.  Pre-registration is critical in order to receive performance material early. Campers must arrive at camp with the music learned and memorized.  Auditions for principal roles will take place on day one of camp.

Junior Trouper Music Theatre Camp, July 27-August 7 (two week camp) for 3rd-9th graders.  Campers will learn and perform Disney’s Aristocats.  Campers will learn basic theatre fundamentals such as stage movement, script marking, and vocal projection.

New This Summer: NILES Junior Trouper Music Theatre Camp, July 6-17 (two week camp) for 3rd-9th graders.  Campers will learn and perform Disney’s 101 Dalmations.  Camp will take place at St. Mary’s Church, 211 S. Lincoln Ave. in Niles.

Camp hours are 9:00am-4:pm, Monday through Friday.  For fee structure and further information on each camp visit www.dougskidsonstage.com or call 269 313-2795.

All camps are directed by Doug Fordyce, owner/director of Kids On Stage.  Kids On Stage is a performing arts opportunity for school age kids grades 1 thru 12 to grow in self-confidence and communication skills through the preparation and performance of high quality musical productions. Through this process children learn fundamentals of practical theatre, vocal projection, stage presence, basic choreography and make-up.  Emphasis is placed on teamwork, self-accountability, commitment, self-fulfillment through hard work and accomplishment and having fun on stage.
