DETAILS: East Valley Children's Theatre opens its 19th season with an original adaptation of the familiar fairy tale, The Princess and the Pea. When the king of Wisendorf dies, Prince Xander must find a new queen to rule. Bickering princesses flood the palace to claim the throne. One by one, they fail a series of tests designed to find a princess of true sensitivity. In the icy north, Titiana gathers her army of Malicious Malcontents with plans to make the kingdom her own. Who is true and who is false? And how can a tiny pea tell them all apart? This fresh take on the familiar classic is full of romance and laughter, magic tapestries, palace spies, and lots and lots of mattresses. Follow the magic in a young girl, forced out of her home to face the tangled mystery of her past.

TICKETS: Adults, $15; Children age 17 and under, $11. Call 480-644-6500 or go to http://www.mesaartscenter.com/index.php/shows/theater/theprincessandthepea
