Dallas Children�s Theater presents an irresistibly delicious HANSEL AND
GRETEL by Kathy Burks Theatre of Puppetry Arts playing February 26 �
March 21, 2010 in the Studio Theater at DCT�s Rosewood Center for
Family Arts.
Striking
puppetry, an enchanted forest and the familiar, melodic music of Engelbert
Humperdinck come together in this magical retelling of the classic fairy tale.
Two children set out on a journey to save their family and encounter a
mysterious old woman living in a house made of candy! Kathy
Burks� talented troupe of Master Puppeteers creates another feast for
the eyes and ears. Kathy Burks states, �Like most folk tales,
HANSEL AND GRETEL has been the subject of numerous retellings and adaptations.
The Grimm�s depiction of the parents, who abandon their children out of
hunger and starvation, is not carried on in this version. Our Hansel and
Gretel simply get lost while searching for food. This lends itself to a
more contemporary and truly joyous, �happily ever after�
ending.�
