Children’s Theatre of Charlotte’s Ensemble Company Presents “Blood Wedding”

Children’s Theatre’s Ensemble Company, made up of talented local high school actors, will present Federico Garcia Lorca’s “Blood Wedding” from May 22-24 in the Wachovia Playhouse at ImaginOn. A brilliant adaptation by poet Ted Hughes captures the violence and pathos of this classic of twentieth-century theatre.

A fast-paced, passionate production, “Blood Wedding” won immediate acclaim when it debuted in 1930s Spain . Federico Garcia Lorca based his most popular play on a newspaper account of a young bride from the countryside who abandoned her husband-to-be on their wedding day and escaped with her childhood sweetheart. Lorca explores conflicts between individuals and society and the elemental force of human attraction through his highly symbolic and lyrical text, elevating this love story to a tragedy of fate.

Performance times are:

Thursday, May 22                      7:30 pm

Friday, May 23                          7:30 pm

Saturday, May 24                      7:30 pm
