‘CRAZY FOR YOU’ 

THE WOODLANDS, TEXAS… Class Act Productions will proudly present Crazy for You on July 17, 18, 19, 24 & 25.  Crazy for You is the story of Bobby Child, a well-to-do 1930’s playboy, whose dream in life is to dance.  And despite the serious efforts of his mother and soon-to-be-ex-fiancé, Bobby achieves his dream!  Memorable Gershwin tunes include I Can’t Be Bothered Now, Bidin’ My Time, I Got Rhythm, Naughty Baby, They Can’t Take That Away from Me, But Not for Me, Nice Work if You Can Get It, Embraceable You and Someone to Watch Over Me.  It’s a high energy comedy which includes mistaken identity, plot twists, fabulous dance numbers and classic Gershwin music.  

Performances of Crazy for You will be held July 17, 18, 19, 24 & 25 at the Nancy Bock Center for the Performing Arts, 3800 S. Panther Creek Drive, The Woodlands, TX  77381. Curtain is at 7:30 PM, with one matinee performance on July 19 at 2:30 PM. 

The cast members for the Class Act production of Crazy For You are all drawn from local area schools, headed by Michael Hanna (Bobby Child) a recent graduate of the Interlochen Arts Academy in Michigan, he was recently accepted into the University of Minnesota's Guthrie Acting Program.  Some of Michael's favorite theatre work include: Ways and Means as Toby Cartwright, Little Women as John Brooke, Guys and Dolls as Sky Masterson, Les Miserables as Enjolras, and Pippin as the title role. In addition, Michael has branched into playwriting, producing his One Act play "Ishmael and Isaac" at Interlochen. 

Whitney Brandt (Polly Baker), a senior at the John Cooper School was most recently nominated for a Tommy Tune award for best supporting actress as her role as The Cat in the Hat in John Cooper's Seussical.  Casted in ACT@TUT'S,  13 The Musical, National Dance soloist 2009, Won National Association of Teaching of Singing (NATS) Houston Chapter for musical theatre.  Other Class Act roles include West Side Story (Consuella), Disney’s High School Musical 2 (Sharpette), Annie (A Star to Be). 

Keith Hale (Bela Zangler) has appeared  in several Class Act productions including  Oliver (Fagin), West Side Story (A-Rab), Fantastiks (Mortimer), and Annie (Mr. Bundles). He has also acted in numerous high school plays at The Woodlands High School including Once Upon a Mattress (Prince Dauntless), Noises Off (Director-Lloyd Dallas),  You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown (Linus) and many character roles in TWHS UIL production and Playwrite shows. He received an "All Star Cast" award for his roles in the UIL production. He loves acting and plans to attend college majoring in theater after his senior year. 

Lauren Lawson (Irene Roth) is a Sophomore at New York University currently pursuing a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance with a specialization in Music Theatre. She was most recently seen in NYU's New Student Cabaret. Past performances with Class Act Productions include Pirates of Penzance (Gen. Stanley's Ward), Peter Pan (Wendy), Annie (Grace Ferrell), South Pacific (Nurse), West Side Story (Jet Girl), and two Broadway Revues. Notable High School performances include Bye Bye Birdie (Kim MacAfee), Oklahoma! (Laurey Williams), and The Sound of Music (Maria Rainer). Lauren was a member of the Houston Children's Chorus for two years and remains an active member of their alumni association. Her future plans include becoming a working actress and making "what I love to do a career."   

The supporting cast of CRAZY FOR YOU includes Sean Rooney (Lank Hawkins), Caitlin Lashier (Mother), Brad Rizzo (Eugene Fodor), Megan Doyle (Patricia Fodor) and Alex McCauley (Everett Baker), Laurelyn Korfhage (Tess),  Katlin Newman (Patsy) and Anastasia Craig (Mitzi).

The creative team for CRAZY FOR YOU includes Keith Brumfield (Director), Tina Kraft (Assistant Director), Rae Moses (Musical Director), Tony Smith (Choreographer), Jon Shelledy (Set Designer), Blake Minor (Lighting Designer), Caroline Zirilli (Costume Designer) and Dom Dematteo (Stage Manager).

Class Act Productions is a non-profit performing arts group that provides education, training, and participation in professional-quality musical theatre productions for students in The Woodlands, Texas and surrounding areas.  By participating, students learn teamwork and responsibility as well as the technical, performance, and artistic elements of musical theatre.
