Carlsbad Community Theatre celebrates 30th year with
The Sound of Music and special opening night GALA at the Star Theatre in Oceanside August 9th

June 2013 –
Let’s start at the very beginning….30 years ago, Carlsbad Community Theatre put on their first production – and it is with great excitement that we are doing this classic favorite musical again, 30 years later this August.

“It’s truly a family affair. Not only is The Sound of Music America’s favorite musical for families, we have 10 families in the show! One of which is 3 generations – father/daughter/granddaughter. It’s what CCT is all about – families.” – Gena Hornung – Producer for The Sound of Music.

Last summer, Jim Tompkins MacLaine and Ali Whitman came together to Direct West Side story, which won numerous awards, including Best Musical (non-paid) in all of San Diego. We are excited to see them work together this summer and expect nothing but another award winning performance.

“This was one of the most difficult shows to cast – we had close to 100 talented actors audition, but we could only cast a little over 50. The talent is over the top. If you love musicals, this is one not to miss.” Ali Whitman – Award Winning Director.

The cast is made up of approximately 50 actors, both youth and adult.

We are excited to celebrate our 30th year at our GALA event, the opening night of our summer production for The Sound of Music. This wonderful, exciting and heart-warming event brings together the CCT families and the Carlsbad community for a fun night of food, fundraising, and live theatre on August 9th. Tickets are just $25.00 on sale at our website and will be held at will call. Light food, drinks and a silent auction will start out the evening at 5:00, bidding ends at 6:30, followed by the opening night of the show at 7pm. We are warmly accepting donations and sponsorships.
