Some Enchanted Evening at Canyon Crest Academy! 

            Don’t miss “Some Enchanted Evening” at Canyon Crest Academy – a chance to take in opening night of  SOUTH PACIFIC and have a delicious Hawaiian barbecue dinner presented by  L&L Hawaiian Barbecue.   South Pacific is currently experiencing a successful revival on Broadway, so here is your chance to enjoy what is widely considered the greatest musical of all time right here in Carmel Valley.  Set on a remote island during World War II, the story follows the romance of  Nellie Forbush, a Navy nurse, and Emile de Becque, a wealthy French plantation owner and features such classic Rodgers and Hammerstein tunes as “Some Enchanted Evening” and “Bali Ha’i.” 

            South Pacific is directed by CCA theatre instructor Jeannine Marquie, a successful local actor who directed last years sold out production of Grease at CCA.  The musical director is Cory Hibbs, the 2007 ASCAP Morton Gould Young Composer’s Award recipient.  South Pacific features the talents of the following CCA students:  Aaron Allen, Janelle Baldwin, Elissa Benjamin, Eleanor Blasé, Brianna Bobbit, Hunter Bolt, Chris Braden, Haley Carlborg, Sam Cook, Tyler Crouch, Jonathan Edzant, Frances Farabaugh, Robert Fisher, Chelsea Fryer, Rebecca Golden, Katie Grainger,  Pete Hoban, Eric Huckabee, Arianna Irwin,  Patrick Kelley, Rachel McCor, Torrey Mercer, Brittney Meredith, Spencer Meredith, Lindsay Mitgang, Connor Murphy,  Alex Newbury, Nick Noetzel, Hunter Peterson, Alden Phinney,  Jake Picker, Izzy Pollak, Michael Popov, Antonio Romero, Nick Scutti, Kelsey Spelich, Erica Stevens,  Emma Stratton, Trinity Veach, Danielle Wisdom,  and Erin Wuthrich.   The stage manager is student Kerri Blake. 

            Canyon Crest Academy is located at 5951 Village Center Loop Road in San Diego.   Shows are as follows:  Friday, November 7th, and Saturday, November 8th and 15th at 7:00 p.m.; Saturday, November 8th and 15th at 2:00 p.m.; and Friday, November 14th at 4:00 p.m.  Tickets range from $5.00 to $15.00 each and may be purchased online at www.cca-envision.org.  Tickets for the “Some Enchanted Evening” barbecue are $10.00 and must be purchased by November 5th.  The dinner tickets are also available on the website.  Tickets are going fast, so buy soon!  South Pacific is a CCA Envision Theatre production, a unique, award-winning arts program which enriches the lives of all CCA students through a wide variety of classes -- both during and after school -- through opportunities for exploration and interaction with teaching artists in their chosen fields of study.   All proceeds from Envision Theatre shows and event  will support the Envision Theatre program.   Envision is made possible by the generous support of the Canyon Crest Academy Foundation, www.canyoncrestfoundation.org.   Coming soon at CCA:  Romeo and Juliet – a hip-hop dance version of this classic love story running December 4th through 6th and Crimes of the Heart, the Pulitzer-prize winning play, running December 11th through 18th.  Don’t miss these great shows!
