Broadway Kids of San Diego

The National Youth Theatre award winning Broadway Kids of San Diego announces it’s third summer season with the upcoming Tony nominated musical production of The Apple Tree.

The Apple Tree is a show with two one-act musicals.  The first act is “The Diary of Adam and Eve,” an adaptation from the Mark Twain novel, with Andrew Ribner and Charlotte Ostrow playing the leading roles.  The next is the story of “Passionnella” a Cinderella-like story, in which Ella [Adriana Yedidsion], a chimney sweep, becomes the beautiful movie star, Passionella.  The ensemble features the talented Jamie Bock, Ryan Murphy, Chelsea Huntly-Playle, Jonathan Edzant, Laura Grace Barnes, Alexandra Chenelle, Jake Kelsoe, Melanie Farfel, and Henry Riggins and Sarah Raoufpur at Stage Manager

This year director Alice Cash, Canyon Crest Academy Junior, boasts the performance will be performed in the round and with a live orchestra conducted by Torrey Pines High School senior, Jeffrey Sweet and choreographed by Torrey Pines High School Junior, Charlotte Wen.

Broadway Kids of San Diego is a kids only theatre company where children really do everything, all rehearsals are held in the director’s backyard to help keep costs down.  But this is anything but a backyard production, The Apple Tree, will be performed at the David and Dorthea Garfield Theatre, at the Lawrence Family Jewish Community Center, 4126 Executive Drive, La Jolla, Wednesday, August 22 and Thursday, August 23 at 7:00 pm.  For ticket information call 858-362-1348.
