SAN DIEGO (June 11, 2010) – Marisa Acosta, a 14 year old Carmel Valley student and local youth theatre performer, released episode one of her documentary style reality show entitled “My Life in Musical Theatre”. Marisa created the seven episode series along with Vanessa Rodriguez-Spencer, an accomplished Hollywood producer and casting director who also produced and directed the show. Ms. Rodriguez-Spencer is best known for her work on the popular HBO series Entourage. Marisa reports that, “Working on the show was amazing and I am grateful to be able to share this experience with anyone interested in theatre and the performing arts.  My hope is that many people will enjoy my show and some will be inspired to pursue youth theatre on their own”.

Season one of the show chronicles Marisa’s experiences in the making of the recent production of 13, The Musical, which was performed in January at the Lyceum Theatre in Horton Plaza . The episodes follow her from audition to rehearsals and ultimately to opening night. It also gives you a glimpse of her personal life at home and with her friends. In episode five, Marisa travels to NYC to interview a 16 year old Broadway star who also got her start in the San Diego youth theatre scene and also interviews and works with the Tony Award wining composer and playwright, Jason Robert Brown, who wrote 13, The Musical.
