NYA Alumni in 2021!

As we wish all of you a happy and healthy 2022, we thank all our brave medical professionals continuing to put their lives on the line to help get us through another year of the pandemic, and we thank everyone in the arts community who continue to work creatively to keep the arts flowing through it all.

And we honor the many artists we lost this past year including Stephen Sondheim, Christopher Plummer, Willie Garson, Cloris Leachman, Cicely Tyson, Sally Anne Howes, Jonshel Alexander, Dean Stockwell, Jane Powell, Ed Asner, Don Everly, Dennis “Dee Tee” Thomas (Kool & the Gang), Richard Donner, Ned Beatty, Clarence Williams III (The Mod Squad), B.J. Thomas, Gavin MacLeod, Charles Grodin, Olympia Dukakis, Mary Wilson, Hal Holbrook, and Betty White. We mourn their loss, but celebrate the lives they lived and all that they've inspired.

We also celebrate a year that saw so many young artists either beginning or continuing to make exciting splashes in the arts, including a remarkable number of former NYA award winners and nominees. In 2021, despite another difficult year of pandemic, that number included about 120 whom we've heard about including 6 on Broadway, 11 on tour, 3 in world premieres, more than 70 in TV Series, several commercials, and more than 20 in movies. Congratulations to all!

Broadway Shows include Come From Away, Dear Evan Hansen, Hadestown, Jagged Little Pill, Diana, Waitress.

National Tours include Beautiful, Cats, Dear Evan Hansen, Fiddler on the Roof, Frozen, Oklahoma!, Waitress & Wicked.

World Premieres include Mystic Pizza, Ratatouille, Stranger Things: The Drive-Into Experience.

Films include Clifford the Big Red Dog, Dating & New York, The Eternals, Licorice Pizza, Spiderman: No Way Home, and Tick, Tick...Boom!

TV Series include principal recurring roles in 4400, All Rise, American Idol, Bunk'd, Chicago Fire, Doogie Kamealoha, DuckTales, Dynasty, Emily in Paris, The Flash, Good Trouble, Gossip Girl, High School Musical: The Musical, Industry, The L Word, The Lake, Madagascar: A Little Wild, Mare of Easttown, Nancy Drew, The Voice, Wednesday, and Wu-Tang, as well as musical guest appearances on Jimmy Kimmel, The Late Late Show, The Tonight Show, and Saturday Night Live.
